Pear Wine Recipe
This recipe makes one of my favorite pear wines. You might find that you will have to tinker with this recipe a little bit until you get it to fit your taste preferences. The amount of sugar the recipe calls for is really just a suggestion. If you use sweeter pear you may find that the recipe works better with a half to one full cup less sugar. Once again you will have to play with this recipe a bit until you are happy with the results, but then that is what makes home wine making so much fun.

Ingredients
5 Pounds of Pear (Pear sizes can differ substantially which is why I go by weight instead of quantity)
2 Oranges (This a good place for a bit of experimentation)
2 Lemons (Same as above)
4 Pounds of Sugar
1 Gallon of Water
1 Once of Yeast

First clean the pairs and pat them dry. Next grate or cut the pairs up into smaller pieces, disposing of the cores while you are at it. Now bring the water to a boil and pour it over the grated pears. Allow this mixture to soak for a full 48 hours. After the soaking period is finished mash the mixture up as much as possible, strain it with fine muslin, put it through a jelly bag and put the mixture on the stove and slowly bring it just to the boiling point, we are not looking for a roiling boil here, bring it just to the boiling point and gently simmer for about 3 minutes. If you have not already done so add the sugar to the fermenting jug. When the mixture is done simmering pour it over the sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Now squeeze the lemons and oranges into the mixture and let the whole concoction cool down. After it is cooled stir in the yeast, seal it up and let it sit for 14 days. After this bottle it up and enjoy.
