Is it ok to use an open container when making home made wine?

I was wondering because I need to make a large quantity, and I was thinking of using one of the things you use to make iced tea.

talking about actually fermenting in an open tank?

no..

thats more like prison juice..

not wine..

    I’m not sure you are looking to make wine. Winemaking is a very complex process and involves lots of equipment and knowledge. If you don’t use an open container during fermentation, the batch will explode due to the release of CO2. Once fermentation is complete, then aging has to be done in a sealed container or it will oxidize.

    If you are talking about making a wine punch or sangria from pre-made wine, then yes and open container is fine.

    Not sure about your question, though. Can you be more specific?

    The gadgets used to make iced tea don’t hold that much liquid and would be inappropriate for wine. Ferment in an open container and you are more likely to wind up with vinegar than wine.
