I need the amount of yeast and sugar per gallon to make wine. Even better would be a recipe to make wine.
I am going to use wild grapes and I didn’t know there were more then one kinds of yeast.

How much sugar you add is a function of the starting Specific Gravity, a $10 tool that floats and measures the sugar in the must. Grape wine needs no sugar while other fruits can need some.
How much yeast to add depends on what kind you’re using, most of the time one dose with do it; they keep doubling in numbers.
It would be helpful if you tell us the fruit and yeast you’re using!

The cheapest way to make wine is to buy a 5 litre bottle of water from the supermarket, along with a carton of orange juice, a carton of grape juice, some yeast and a kilo of sugar.

empty the water from the bottle and add the orange juice and grape juice to the bottle

dissolve the sugar in about a pint of boiling water and add to the bottle (once it’s cooled)

Add the yeast and 1/2 cup of cold tea (no milk)

cover the top of the bottle with loose fitting cling film

in a couple of days, top up the bottle to 5 litres with water

leave for a month or two until it’s clear and you will have a very nice medium dry wine all for under £5

I live in TN and we have a lot of apple orchards around here and I am interested in making some wine from fresh apples and need help. (I know they aren’t in season yet)

1. What tools/items will I need.
2. Could you give me some detailed instructions on how to do it?
3. Is aging just for taste or does it up the alcohol content?

Any other info you can give me (other than any law crap) would be greatly appreciated.

PS- I do not want to make wine from apple cider!

1. What tools/items will I need.
fermenting bucket or carboy
airlock
sanitizing equipment
yeast
apples

2. Could you give me some detailed instructions on how to do it?
juice the apples and add to the fermenter
add the yeast, seal and place the airlock
in a few weeks when the airlock stops bubbling its done

3. Is aging just for taste or does it up the alcohol content?
ageing doesn’t add alcohol content, but it does 2 things: it clarifies the end product, letting the yeast and sediment settle, and it does improve the flavor. usually you want to let it age in the bottle for a few weeks.

What are some cool "need to get supplies" for someone making their own wine. I went to a website and bought everything that made sence to me for making wine for my wife as a gift. Is there a cool item in addition to what you could presume I’ve already gotten or an item I should make sure I get or get more of that people commonly understock?

Well it might help to know what you already bought, but here is a brief list. Of course you need a carboy, fermentation corks, a bottle corker, if you want to really impress her, get a labeling software kit, that let’s you design and print your own wine bottle labels. You need a theif, hydrometer, potasium sulfite and ingredients, depending upon what kind of wine you wish to make., and wine glasses…

Is Secondary fermentation necessary for making wine at home?

No. Depending on what you’re trying to achieve in the way of a flavor, it is not necessary if you’re going for a more fruity flavor.
